We’re Coming Back! Changes to expect when returning to lessons.

Booking System

Over the last 6 months, we have been hard at work transferring all families, students and enrolments to a brand new, state of the art booking and customer management system.

So, what does this mean for you? Firstly, almost all our receipts and booking confirmations that used to be handed to you on paper will be going digital. This will help save paper and ultimately help the environment. We can still print out receipts for you if you desire, however bookings confirmations will be digital only – this means that it is IMPERITIVE we have your correct email address on file.

New Payment Structure

Our current payment structure has been with us since we started 15 years ago. While it is still a great monthly payment system, sometimes it was hard to understand why you were paying certain amounts each month e.g. extra on a 5 week month or working out the extensive discount structure we have for multiple lessons and children. The tweaks we have made are to ensure this is easier to understand and that the only surprise you have in any given month is that you pay less than expected.

Our pricing model is no longer based per class. We have moved to a monthly FLAT RATE FEE based on a 4-week month. Below are some key points you need to be aware of:

- 5 Week Month: You still pay the same fees for 5 weeks as you will for 4 weeks. Essentially getting the 5th week for free.

- Public Holdidays: You still don’t pay for public holidays. Should the day you swim happen only 3 times in a given month, you only pay 3/4 of the flat monthly fee. This is because the flat monthly fee is based on a 4-week month.
NB: If you have a public holiday on your lesson day, but there are still 4 lessons in the month, your fees will continue to be charged at the full monthly rate.

- Discounts are Automatic: Discounts are now automatic in the new system. Children with the lesser/cheapest fees are automatically discounted first and so on. For example, if you have 2 children in Learn to Swim classes, and 1 child in Squads/Sportz, your child in Squads/Sportz will be discounted first as these are the cheaper lessons. Multiple class discounts are still applied as per normal.

Staying COVID-19 Safe

For the benefit of not only you and your children, but also staff and other patrons, we are applying some COVID-19 safety measures until further notice. These measures are not personal, and if you are asked by a staff member to adhere to the rules, please do so – it is not an attack on you. If we all work together, we can help stop the spread of Coronavirus and get back to normal sooner, rather than later.

Feeling Sick? Stay at Home!

This point has been a staple since we opened 15 years ago and applies to all staff and customers alike. If you are presenting any symptoms of the flu, common cold, or COVID-19, then YOU MUST STAY AT HOME.

We cannot stress enough how important it is to stay away from other people if you are feeling unwell with any symptoms. If you bring it into the swim school, not only are you putting the health of others in jeopardy, but you also risk having the swim school closed and deep cleaned.

Should you be presenting symptoms when you turn up to the swim school, you will be asked to immediately remove yourself and your children from the premises in the interest of everyone else. Your lessons will be credited back to you in the form of makeups and you can use these upon your return. We may ask that you get tested for COVID-19 and provide proof of being negative before we allow you to continue classes.

Who Can I Bring to Lessons?

Until further notice, we ask that all family and friends that want to come and watch your child’s swimming lesson stay at home. Only essential guardians should be in the building with their children. The reason for this measure is two-fold.

1. It limits the number of people in the building and on deck and thus helping to keep everyone CODID-19 Safe.

2. There are only going to be a limited amount of markers to guide people on where to sit and stand.

We understand that it is important for your children to have extended family and friends watch them and how proud they are to show off their skills, but for the time being, this will simply not be possible. Please note that this is only a temporary measure while we all help stop the spread of COVID-19, and when the time is right, this restriction will be lifted.

In One Door, Out the Other

To help distance customers, especially at our pinch-points (gates and reception desk), we will have both the front door and rear door open for customers to move through.

The front door will be ENTRY ONLY and the rear door will be EXIT ONLY. This is the same principle that you may have seen at Bunnings and some Woolworths stores.

Hot Shower? Home is Best

While we are not locking off the on-deck showers, we do ask customers that where possible, you wrap your child up in warm clothing after their lesson and shower at home. This is advice from the NSW Health Department as a measure to help limit the spread of COVID-19.

X Marks the Spot

You will notice in a lot of businesses these days that there a markings on the floors and seats telling you where you should stand and sit. We will have these markings as crosses on the floors and seating throughout the swim school. We ask all customers to adhere to these markings – especially at reception.

If you are unsure, unhappy or need any clarification about any of the points above, please do not hesitate to ask. Our reception desk or management is more than happy to assist you.

We thank you all for your understanding through these difficult times – let’s hope all restrictions can be lifted sooner rather than later so we can get back to normality.

Sincerely, Shellharbour Swim Academy Management and Staff
